Sep 24, PM. I got similar trouble. After that trouble I could still login my mac via SSH. WidowServer process with new firmware may have problem. A setup was changed so that a computer nevert sleep as the tempraly solution. I hope this issue will fix soon. I just experienced this while actively using my MBA with the display. The interesting thing is all peripherals connected continued to work and I could hear sound from the display. A reboot was necessary.

I have the same issue, running A short update from my side: the solutionI stated earlier didin't fix the problem after all, so in the end I took my MacBook in service. It is a logic board problem. They had to change that under warranty and now after almost 2 weeks that problem never occurred. So, unfortunately, this is not a software problem and can be solved only by changing the logic board.
