Harper's doesn't break any new ground in that sense, but with 13 hours to play with instead of being tethered to a two-hour run-time, the show does everything a horror movie does — but bigger and better. There's ample time to build characters and backstories, explore the psychological impact of realizing that there's a deranged psychopath on the loose that films all too often gloss over or don't have time to service, and develop multiple subplots that all work in tandem to the overarching whodunnit.
Or if you're just in it for the kills, there's a higher and nastier body count. By the end, it all makes for a far more earned and satisfying payoff that can't be duplicated on the silver screen.
The mystery keeps you guessing In that same vein, Harper's is so focused on developing the show's mythology in the beginning that the characters don't even realize they're being picked off one by one until six episodes in. That's nearly half the series! While the characters are unaware at first, you are guaranteed to go all Sherlock on it from the start we can all binge now, but the one-week wait back then felt interminable.
But there are so many twists and turns on Harper's , even if you guessed the killer correctly at one point, the show is likely to change your mind multiple times before you reach the finale.
That's because by the time you get to the end, no one is who you thought they were. Douchebags become heroes. Dumb blondes become martyrs. And creepy children But you get our point. But when she's asked to participate in Trish and Henry's wedding, she can't skip out on this homecoming. Of course, everyone is ridiculously good looking and while this aired on CBS, it feels a lot more resemblant of the CW in tone.
There are hot hook-ups before and during the murder spree; sometimes death makes people horny, ya know? And maybe it would have been better suited on the CW originally, particularly as there was a whole interactive online element. Scandal and Pretty Little Liars thrived in part because of live-tweeting, a concept that wouldn't happen for a few more years.
CBS also produced the web series Harper's Globe , centering around the local newspaper, as an attempt to boost the online community, which they debuted the mouth before the premiere and which featured some of the characters from the show. Imagine the potential if this debuted now! Websites would be replaced by Instagram profiles and Pinterest boards featuring ideas for Trish's wedding. If you missed the conclusion on Saturday night, you can watch it below.
Though this is the end of the show, the upcoming DVD set will include some extras that fans will enjoy. Question for you… If there was going to be a second season, do you think any of the surviving characters should have been connected with the new mystery? This site uses Akismet to reduce spam.

I am gonna give up watching tv altogether, every time I fall in love with a new show, they take it off…this is getting to be as bad as taking off the longest running soaps in daytime television. I loved the show! All of my friends loved it and we were all constantly discussing who we thought the killer or killers could be.
I would love if they did another season of the show or did another version of the show. I love shows that constantly keep us guessing through out the whole thing. Before the nuptials can commence the wedding guests are slain, one by one, by a mysterious killer. The show won the timeslot in total viewership View Results.
Repeats of Criminal Minds will fill the timeslot for the immediate future. Though this season of 13 episodes was always intended to conclude the mystery, the network was hoping to bring the show back for a second season, with a different cast and mystery. After all, when was the last time a show that was exiled to Saturday nights ended up returning for another season?

Almost as loud as when she was pointing the shotgun at large knife wielding John Wakefield, but exited instead leaving small knife Shane to die. Both offenses are death worthy on a show where no reason is required. The previews caught my attention right off the bat…. I have since set my DVR to record it every week not missing a single episode. In fact I have several people hooked on it as well. My brother and his girlfriend are at my house every Saturday night with their eyes glued to the screen!
